From Advice to Stories: Here’s What’s Changing

Hey everyone,

First off, thank you. If you’re reading this, you’ve stuck with me through drafts, ramblings, and a lot of writing advice. I’ve gone from bouncing around topics to finally structuring my posts into a yearly focus. One that’s helped me grow my craft as much as I hope it’s helped yours. Even then, many of you have stayed with me between the chaos and the order. That means the world to me.

When I transitioned this blog to writing advice originally, my goal was simple: share what I know about writing so others could grow too. But over time, one thing has become clear: my real goal is to get my stories into your hands. To build worlds you can escape into, monsters that make you check the shadows, and adventures that stay with you long after you close the page. It’s time for me to make myself an author of tomorrow, today.

So, starting in October, this blog is changing.
I’m shifting from writing advice to a hub for my short stories, serials, and strange worlds. Myers Fiction is going to be my home for all my stories, progress on novels, and a place where fans can find me and more of my works. I’ll also be sharing my stories on other platforms, though the Myers Fiction family will always get them well in advance.

If you’re here for the craft tips, thank you, and I hope you’ll stick around for the stories too. I’ll still share some behind-the-scenes craft notes in certain newsletters, but the dedicated writing advice will move to its own page, updated on the blog only, with no extra emails. I really want to build my reader base as I prepare Please Subscribe for pitching to literary agents and publishers.

To make this happen, I’m hitting pause in September. There won’t be any new posts while I update the site, tidy things up, and get everything ready for launch.

But I won’t leave you empty-handed — my first treat will arrive just in time for Halloween. I’ve got an eco-thriller short story lined up that I can’t wait to share. Here’s a hint of what’s to come:

Alice, a college student on fall break, is determined to spend a stress-free weekend with her hometown friends. But when they set up camp on the edge of the Great Salt Bowl, too much alcohol and reckless choices turn their getaway into a fight for survival. This fall, the elements will take more than just the sun from the sky.

If you’re already subscribed, you don’t have to do anything. The next time you hear from me, it’ll be with fiction in your inbox. If you’re not sure you’re signed up, subscribe here.

Thank you for being here. I can’t wait to show you what’s next.
See you in October!
